About Online Training

The Winter 2010 leadership training is coming soon! The American Red Cross in the Finger Lakes and the League of Women Voters are proud to continue providing the LeaderSpark Program to high schoolers. This leadership curriculum continues to be used nationally since 1987. More information on LeaderSpark is available at http://www.leaderspark.org/.

Save the dates: Sunday afternoons January 10 through March 14 (skip Feb 14 & Feb 21 - happy vacation!)

The LeaderSpark sessions help build practical skills that are important to being successful leaders through large group, small group, and individual learning experiences. Awareness and hands-on practice of

     - leadership styles
     - working with groups
     - planning projects
     - dealing with conflicts constructively
     - presenting yourself in public presentations

are the focus of the five training sessions. The sixth session provides the opportunity for participants to make presentations on what has been learned to parents, family members, and community guests.

The adults who work with LeaderSpark are community volunteers and professionals with a range of career and volunteer experiences. While the adult facilitators provide an introduction to concepts and serve as resource people, most of the program time is spent in large and small group settings where participants will discuss ideas and practice leadership skills. If you know adults who are interested in becoming volunteer facilitators, please contact Sarah Rowe at 315-568-9436 or 315-789-1522.

Leadership development continues throughout the year with activities and projects. LeaderSpark is a high quality program with proven success. Local youth who have participated recommend it. Any adults who are interested in becoming facilitators, please let me know and we will arrange a one-day facilitator group training. Read more about LeaderSpark at  http://www.leaderspark.org/
